Brewton is located in south-central Alabama, approximately 80 miles northeast of Mobile and 100 miles southwest of Montgomery. Established in 1817, Brewton is home to a population of more than 5,000 residents and is the county seat of Escambia County. A charming and friendly southern city, Brewton was ranked 60th in the 1995 edition of "The 100 Best Small Towns in America” by Norman Crampton.

Brewton is served by the Brewton City and Escambia County school districts and is home to Jefferson Davis Community College, a two-year institution that provides traditional and distance learning opportunities for students. Brewton’s humid subtropical climate produces long hot summers and relatively mild winters – perfect weather for enjoying the many opportunities for outdoor sports and recreation found in the area. The city boasts seven outstanding community parks and a number of recreational facilities that include the Brewton Community Center and Dogwood Hills Municipal Golf Complex. The city is also home to the Country Club of Brewton, an outstanding golfing facility featuring an 18-hole championship course and full service clubhouse complete with restaurant, swimming pool, and tennis courts.

Downtown Brewton features numerous shops, restaurants, and businesses dedicated to serving the needs of the community. The Brewton Historic Commercial District occupies a 13-acre stretch along U.S. Route 31 and features a number of historic structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places that include the Bank of Brewton, Old Brewton City Hall, and Elmore Building. Also downtown is Jennings Park, event venue for numerous festivals and special events that include the Choo-Choo Farmers Market, Kick it at the Creek Crawfish Boil, and Alabama Blueberry Festival, held the third Saturday of each June with live entertainment, arts and crafts, children’s activities, and of course, blueberries!

The city of Brewton is proud to announce the recent opening of E. O. Wilson Nature Adventure Park, a 100-acre ecological park named for the Pulitzer Prize winning environmental biologist known as the “Father of Biodiversity” and world’s foremost authority on ants. The park opened during the summer of 2015 and features hiking and biking trails, kayaking and canoeing, wildlife exhibits, an outdoor classroom, and primitive camping facilities.
