Dozier is located in Crenshaw County, Alabama, approximately 70 miles south of Montgomery and 45 miles north of the Florida state line. Incorporated in 1907, Dozier is home to a population of approximately 350 residents who enjoy the small town charm and sense of community that make their city special!

Dozier is served by the Crenshaw County School District and is within 35 miles of three community colleges and Troy University, a four-year public university offering undergraduate and graduate programs of study. Dozier residents enjoy a variety of community amenities that include safe streets, median home prices in the low 60s, and a cost of living index ranked more than 25% lower than that of the national average.

Dozier’s humid subtropical climate produces long hot summers and mild cool winters – perfect weather for enjoying the numerous opportunities for outdoor sports and recreation found throughout the region. The town is bordered to the south by the Conecuh River, a 230-mile coastal river suitable for recreational boating, kayaking, and canoeing. Located just five miles southwest of the city is Gantt Lake, a 2,700-acre reservoir popular for fishing, boating, swimming, and skiing that features hiking and biking trails, picnicking facilities, and lakeside camping along 21 miles of pristine shoreline.

Lake Frank Jackson is located 20 miles southeast of the city. A premier fishing destination, the lake is maintained and stocked by the Alabama State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and features a variety of freshwater fish that include largemouth and smallmouth bass, white and black crappie, catfish, and bream. The lake is surrounded by Frank Jackson State Park, a 2,050-acre park that offers a host of amenities that include lakefront camping, hiking and biking trails, and excellent wildlife viewing from the pedestrian bridge leading to the lake’s center island.

Conecuh National Forest is located forty miles south of Dozier. The 84,000-acre forest is an excellent resource for fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, backpacking, camping, and wildlife viewing. The forest is home to several dedicated recreation sites that include the Open Pond and Blue Lake recreation areas.
